Perks of Being a Pastor (and a pastors wife)

Sure, he's gone on Saturday nights. Sure, he's gone most of the day on Sunday. Sure, he's gone to meetings every so often at night. Sure, he is usually gone to wedding rehearsals on Friday night and to weddings on Saturday afternoons. BUT EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE, we both get to experience the blessing of a party like the one we attended on Friday night, because he is a pastor. A girl that grew up in Conn's student ministry got married at Bentwater (on Lake Conroe) and invited Conn and I to stay the night at one of the Villas (that they had paid for) for a little getaway for the 2 of us. When we arrived to our room, there was a "goodie" bag filled to the top with wonderful snacks and cutesy wedding stuff. Friday night was the rehearsal and then we drove a few miles down the road to the rehearsal dinner. We have been to a lot of weddings and a lot of rehearsals, and without a shadow of a doubt, this rehearsal dinner was the greatest thing we have EVER experienced. The groom's family went all out. It was held at the family's ranch (300+ acres) and they had a giant tent lit up with tables decorated in a great western theme. They were serving quail wrapped in bacon, chicken fried steak bites, Cokes and Dr. Peppers in bottles, and chicken quesadillas. These were just appetizers. They had a mechanical bull, hay rides, longhorn steers you could get on and take a picture, a place where you could hit golf balls into the lake (Conn's favorite part), bon fires for s'mores, and an area with casino tables. Once we finally sat down to eat, we gorged ourselves on ribs, chicken, filet mignon, green beans with bacon, sausage, ranch style beans, and twice baked potatoes. AND THEN, to top it all off... some of the best peach cobbler I have ever eaten topped with Blue Bell ice cream. I am what you would consider a cobbler expert and it was, without a doubt, the best cobbler ever. It was just an amazing party. The next day we slept in and had lunch at the country club while dreaming of being a "clubber" some day, and then it was off to the wedding. It was a beautiful outdoor wedding right on Lake Conroe and everything went great. We had such a great time!

Wow, what a spectacular wedding! I'm a cobbler person too...peach cobbler is my favorite, but the other stuff sounded good too.

Thanks for posting on my blog about your car seat experience...since our 5-month old already wears 12 month clothing, I know he could pass for a 1-year old, but I'm still worried about his safety in an accident, and I know I would have the "what ifs" if something happened.
