Mama Said There'd Be Days Like This

This week has been hard. The days have been long.

On Monday, I listened to my husband as he performed a memorial service for a man in our church. As I sat there with tears streaming down my face, I quickly began to realize...my life may be hard and my days may be long, but...my God is so, so good!!!

As Conn walked through the door that night, and this little man went running down the hallway yelling daddy, I quickly began to realize...my life may be hard and my days may be long, but...my God is so, so good.

As I ate dinner with some of my dearest friends last night and laughed and talked for hours, while my husband was at home doing baths and bedtime for 3 very tired kids, I quickly realized...my life may be hard and the days may be long, but...my God is so, so good.

During the days that I discipline our children way too much and yell way too loud, but then I look over and see this, I quickly begin to realize...my life may be hard and the days may be long, but...my God is so, so good.

Thank you, Lord, for these long and hard days!
May I count each day I have as a blessing!

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24

Wow! What a great piece of wisdom to share with others that may be feeling the same way you are! When I'm feeling sad and depressed Dad always says, "Do we need to go walk down the hallways at Texas Children's Hospital??" Course he got that saying from me - so I can't say anything to him! Just recently he changed it a little and said, "At least you are not homeless in Haiti!" Sometimes you just have to put in all in perspective!!
There is always someone with worse situations, issues, or pain than you! Always count your blessings and be thankful for those long hard days! Your babies are so worth the rough stuff!
I love you!

So true isn't it! The days are long but so good too. I know one day when they are all in school I will miss these long days at home with them. It is worth it and God is amazing. Can't wait to hang out next week!

Ashley, I hope you have an amazingly easy evening- the kind where the kids fall asleep early and you are not tired, but relaxed and morning seems to come late- I really do- I hope you have a GREAT evening! By the way, sometimes there is NOTHING more productive or effective then just crying. If you can manage to follow the crying with laughing- all the better!

Ashley, you are so, so right. Our God is so good...and so good to show me how blessed I am when there are plenty of times that I'm not grateful for what I have. I loved your mom's comment. We say the same thing around here. Cash is so cute it almost makes me cry. I love all of the photos you always post, and I really admire the person I see through your blog. Keep postin'!
