Journaling

Over the summer, Lily, was asked by the upcoming first grade teachers at her school, to keep a journal and then turn it in when school started. Lily, LOVES to write and draw, so this was very easy for her. Here are some of her entries. Nothing was edited. The spelling and topics are completely all her own. She makes me laugh with some of the stuff she writes and the little word bubbles on her drawings...click on the pictures and they will enlarge.

Love this girl! :)

A List of Sorts

*Last night, I attended the first of three bible studies with Beth Moore and thousands of other women. The next one is Oct. 19. You should join me. :)

*Sarah Kelly, and her husband, Jonas, recently came on staff at our church. Sarah released a new album yesterday, and I am in love with many of her new songs. Sarah sang a few of her new songs this weekend at church. She has an amazing testimony and an incredible voice. Always Undeniable and How Much You Love, are currently on repeat in our home. :) You can check out her new album, here.

*Today, I was going to try and participate in, What I Wore Wednesday . My adorable friend, Debra, did it a couple of weeks ago, and I thought it would be so fun. Well, as you can see by my terrible pictures, it was a failed attempt. HA! I couldn't get the angles and lighting to work, and it was becoming too frustrating. I obviously don't have enough light in my room. But, if I used the flash, it totally bounced off the mirror. So, I gave up. :)
Ruffled Tank- Old Navy
Cardigan- Old Navy
Jeans- Local Boutique
Flip Flops- Gap

* Cash really LOVES to color. We think he may be our only lefty in the family. So far, he is doing everything with his left hand. Yes, he is sitting in a tall bar stool in these pictures. This is where his sisters color, and he must do exactly what they do. :)

*Today, all of my children are in school.
We really don't have any extra money to spend right now, so I came straight home after I took Maggie and Cash to school. It has been so nice! I have been sitting on my couch in the complete silence of our home. Yes, I have laundry to put away and a dishwasher that needs to be unloaded. But, today, I choose to sit and soak up the silence. It has been good. Really, good! :) My mom did call and invited me to meet her for Mexican food. Of course, I said yes. Conn came along and we had a great lunch filled with laughing and deep conversations. It was good. Now, I must go pick up my two younger babies. The silence will be no more.

Thank you, Lord, for giving me this one day with nothing to do.
It has been good. :)

Another First

Maggie and Cash, finally had their first day of school! Yay!!!! It was a great morning and a great first school day for everyone! They were both SO excited to go. Maggie, of course, was an old pro and walked the halls like she was the BIG kid on campus! Cash, just trotted right along side of her like he had been doing it for years. I love that they are in school together...if only for a year.

Maggie's first day of school - 2009

and, this year - 2010

We took Cash to his class first. He is going only one day a week for MDO. When we were walking down the hall, we could hear all the other babies SCREAMING in his class. I just knew that we were going to have a melt down by Cash, and they were going to have to pry him off of me. Nope! Not a bit! He walked in smiling ear to ear and handed me his backpack. He walked straight to the books, sat down, and just looked at me and waved. I couldn't believe it! So, I didn't get any pictures of him in his class, because I didn't want to press my luck by staying too long. I guess it has paid off with him staying with sitters all the time and being in the church nursery since he was a newborn. So thankful for such a great morning!

As always, Maggie, did awesome! This is her last year of preschool! She loves being in the 4 year old class with Ms. Charlotte. She has a lot of friends in her class from last year and ran right in and never even said bye to us. Her teacher asked her if she wanted to, and she just kind of shrugged her shoulders and giggled. Ha! That's our little, Miss Independent! Love this about all my kids!

So, this momma was going to be kidless for the first time in 2 years! What did I do with my 5 hrs. of complete freedom? Well, lucky me, got to sit in an 85 degree house, waiting for the AC dude to show up. Yep! Our AC broke in the middle of the night while we were all sleeping. Awesome! Oh, well. At least it was a quiet, hot house. :) We spent the night with my parents last night and are currently still here. Conn just called and said that it is now fixed and we are good to go!

Hope you all are having a great Thursday!
Talk with you soon!

Where I Blog

Kate, from Centsational Girl, is hosting a fun blog link up. She is asking the question...

"
What corner of your world have you dedicated to spending time online?
"

So, I thought that I would play along.

If you have visited my blog for any length of time, you more than likely have seen pictures of where I blog. You just never knew it.
Yes, this is our living room couch. We have a home office, but there is not a desk in it. :) So, the couch is where I perch myself to update this little 'ol blog! I sit in the middle of the couch. No idea why. It has just become a habit and it is a very comfortable spot. Can you see where the cushions are smushed in the middle? Ha! That makes me laugh because I have never even noticed it until this picture was taken. :)
We have had this couch for almost 6 years. We bought it right after Lily was born and had recently moved to our dream house. Oh, how I miss that house. But, that is another post for another day. :( I am ready for a new couch. Not really sure what I want. Just something different. But, it's gonna be while...according to Conn. :)

When I am sitting and blogging, this is my view. Do ya like Barney on the t.v.? Just keeping it real, folks! :) Actually, I hardly ever blog during the day time. Unless, it is the hour and a half that I have between nap time and when Lily gets home from school. My hours of blogging, returning emails, facebooking, etc. are usually after the hours of 8:30pm. This is when the house is quiet, the 3 little loves are tucked in their beds, and the living room and kitchen are picked up. That's when I finally sit down and breathe! See that chair in the left hand side of the picture? That is where Conn perches himself every night, while I am on the computer. He watches ESPN, Ultimate Fighter, or some random movie that we have seen a thousand times. I am not much of a t.v. girl, so I could care less what is on. But, if it is something I like, I have an amazing gift of blogging and watching t.v. all at the same time. Conn does not understand how I do it. Must be a girl thing. :)

Also, from where I sit, I have a perfect view of our backyard. I love how the sun shines in through the windows every morning. Such a powerful reminder that God has blessed me with another day!

Thanks for stopping by!

Where do you blog?

You can join the party, here!

Morning's with Daddy

Happy Tuesday, everyone! :)

Around Here

Lily...finished up her first week of school. She loves everything about it! She has already made some new friends in her class, and loves seeing her old classmates out on the playground. We have entered the stage of chasing boys while at recess! I get to hear about that everyday when she gets home. Oh, dear! :) Also, who knew that a week in 1st grade, could suddenly make you so sassy? Hmmmm.....We will be working a lot on that! HA! Oh, and she was super excited, because this weekend at church in her class, there were two kids from her class at school. She thought that was very cool!

When Lily gets home after school, Cash and Maggie are usually waking up from the naps. This is pretty much the first thing Cash does when he sees Lily. They ADORE each other!

Maggie...starts school this week! She is beyond excited and asks everyday if today is the day! Since Lily has started school, she and Cash, pretty much spend all day playing. They do great together. I love that my girls love their baby brother! I know it won't always be this way. For this moment, I will treasure it!

Oh, and Maggie has finally started taking ballet, tap and jazz! She has been asking me to sign her up for FOREVER! Parents don't get to watch, but I am pretty sure that she loved it! We are taking a break from gymnastics for a while and are going to give this a try. We'll see how it goes.

Cash...finally had his 15 month check up. 15 months? Yes, 15 months! HA! If you are wondering, he will be 21 months on the 1st. :) We are just a little behind. Oh, well! :) He weighs 31.5 lbs (90%) and is 35 in. tall (90%). Our pediatrician kept looking at Conn and I and saying, "Oh, goodness. You sure do have your hands full. Is he always this active (as Cash was jumping off the exam table!)? HAHA! The answer is, YES! ALWAYS!! The boy is non-stop! Like, never stops! My dad calls him Dennis the Menace! :) Thankfully, he does sleep a good 13-14 hrs. at night and takes a good 3 hr. nap during the day. He is beyond precious and is a really good baby, for the most part.

Cash has learned to do so many new and some what crazy/dangerous things. It makes us nervous, but it also makes us laugh! He wants to copy every thing we or the girls do. We let him do these things because we want him to learn how to do things correctly, so that he won't get hurt when he tries it again. Conn and I both want him to be a BOY and to play like a BOY! So, we don't hold him back from much. No, we don't let him run out in the middle of the street. Although, he has tried it! :)

Here is some of what this crazy boy does at 20 1/2 months...
Climbs EVERYTHING
Can jump with both feet in the air...precious
Love shoes...even his sisters dress-up ones
Unlocks the front door and opens it (yes, he got in trouble for that)
Throws huge fits when he doesn't get his way
Kicks a ball and can throw it correctly
Will only eat with a fork and/or a spoon
Loves to color
Loves books
Loves Elmo
Plays upstairs in the playroom by himself
Talks a lot
Counts to 10
Says his ABC's (only momma can understand the letters) :)
Sings tons of songs
Not a big eater (Yes, I know he is off the charts. No idea where that comes from)
He runs! He does not walk!
Has taught himself how to ride the girls scooter. He does laps around the house.
and, so many other things that I can't think of right now. :)

This weekend has been pretty low key. Conn's parents came over on Friday night. We went to eat with them and then came back to the house for dessert. They just got back from Hawaii last week, and had the cutest gifts for everyone. Yesterday, we ran errands, had lunch with my parents, took naps, and then went to church last night. Conn has been working some extra long hours at church this weekend, so the kids and I have been hanging at the house. I have finished up all of the laundry and am trying to get everything ready for a brand new week. The girls have been playing hours of dress-up and make believe and Cash just kind of follows right along with whatever they are doing. :) I think that is about it for what is going on in the McWhorter casa!

Hope you all had a blessed weekend! Here's to a new week! We'll see ya soon!
