Road Trip Saturday

Last night, I was looking at the weather and noticed that it was going to be close to the 70's today. So, right before we were getting ready for bed, Conn and I decided to take the family on a little road trip, for a random Saturday adventure! We got in the car around 12:30 this afternoon, and drove to Galveston. Yes, I know the beach is not a place that people normally go to at the end of January, but...the kids thought that it was wonderful idea!! It was a little windy and a little cold, but it didn't stop them from "playing" in the sand, collecting sea shells, and trying everything in their power not to go head first in the water. They loved it!! It was actually nice not having to worry about sunscreen, bathing suits, and floaties. Ha!

Such a fun day!
No agenda, no schedules, no naps, no nothing!

What did you do today?

The thought actually crossed my mind too so I think it is a great idea. Luke has been talking about the beach so much lately. Wish we would have done the same. We went to see the house, went to eat lunch and played at the park. Yours sounds MUCH more fun!

Sea in winter is wonderful:) In recent years our winters are not like even I remember from my own childhood, when the snow was up to the waist and throughout the winter temperature hovered around -10 or -15 degrees Celsius (and sometimes colder).

The beach in winter is always good- we were in Padre in November and CA for Christmas so we've been twice this winter and I love the hassle of no suits, sunscreen, and all that hoopla. And I love the randomness of a last minute decision to get up and go do something! Kids never know the difference.

Spur of the moment trips make the best memories! I love the Audrey Assad song. I have never heard of her.

Love the old familiar "herkie" of Cash while he is sitting on the sand!! Brings back old times of when he was, you know.....about a year old! ha!

What a fun day! I'm sure your kiddos loved it, and isn't it nice to just beside your husband while the kids are strapped in and you don't have to worry about where they are or what they are doing? That's my favorite part of the ride! I couldn't help but notice Maggie's precious strawberry shirt. Would you mind sharing a close up picture of the front? I am throwing my three year old a "Strawberry Shortcake" birthday party and I am on the lookout for an outfit for her:) Love your sweet, growing family! BTW-Congrats!
